BOARD & ADVISORY

"I've been on both sides of the boardroom table. That changes how you show up."

The Proposition

Having built and exited a business, managed 25 investors, navigated a sale to a FTSE-listed PLC, and led a board through insolvency proceedings, I bring something to a boardroom that's genuinely difficult to replicate: the perspective of someone who has actually done it.

I know what founders need from their board — and when they're not getting it. I know how to ask the question that changes the meeting. I know the difference between a business that's struggling and a business that's failing — and what to do about both.

WHAT I BRING

  • I built and ran a consumer business for 12 years, from startup to category leader to successful exit. I understand P&Ls, cash flow, retail relationships, supply chain, brand, and team leadership from the inside.

  • Over a decade in investment banking gave me a disciplined, analytical lens. I know how to read a board pack, stress-test an assumption and spot the number that's doing too much work.

  • As a NED, I have worked through insolvency proceedings and an accelerated pre-pack sale process. The most valuable board experience is rarely the comfortable kind.

  • As Chair of the EIS Association, I work with HM Treasury and the Department for Business and Trade on policy that shapes the UK's startup and scale-up landscape.

  • Across retail, consumer brands, investment, media, and government. I open doors.

WHERE I ADD MOST VALUE

  • Consumer brands and challenger businesses

  • Scaling businesses seeking their next stage of growth

  • Businesses navigating a transaction — investment round, acquisition, or exit

  • Organisations where the founder is still in the business

  • Businesses where a frank, experienced voice around the table is overdue
